The rooms are well kept and clean.
The rooms are well kept and clean. The staffs can speak Mandarin and average English.
Pestering us to take their trips when we had advanced made booking with the tourist center prior to coming to Phong Nha.

Great breakfast every morning.
Great breakfast every morning. Staff were friendly. Good WiFi connection most of the time. Big bright room. Clean bedsheets. Fantastic location with great view from the window. Motorbike rental available - good price. Hot and cold water.
Bathroom was quite grubby. Stayed for 3 nights and bins were never taken out. Air-conditioning was temperamental and didn't blow cold air all the time but was generally ok. Bathroom was very hot.

Okay place to stay
They arranged tours for us and made it very easy for us. Breakfast was okay. Even though the owners don't speak English, they had a few guys there who spoke pretty well.
The room had a weird smell. The floor outside the room was a bit dirty, and you have to take of your shoes.

What was the highlight of ROSE POSHTEL
Extremely well located on the Main Street.
Extremely well located on the Main Street. I stayed in a double room which was very comfortable with air conditioning and a fan. Good, clean toilet facilities. Breakfast was quite nice and I was regularly offered extra drinks or to share in the owners’ food. The staff themselves were very friendly and attentive, despite the limited English.
I had a few organisational issues with the hostel. First, I was told prior to leaving for Phong Nha that I would be able to check in when I arrived (4am), but they had sent a message while en route saying that I wouldn’t be able to. I was able to come into the lobby and sleep on a bench there. I organised a cave tour through the hostel but they apparently told the tour guide I was doing a different tour to the one I had paid for. Again, not a huge issue in and of itself. I booked my onward bus to Hué through the hostel and was told to wait in the lobby and they would get me when the bus arrived. This resulted in me waiting an hour past the expected time, in full view of the hostel staff, before I pointed out that the bus seemed very late. After a flurry of activity I was told the bus had had to change a tyre (?) and was put into a taxi to the next stop to presumably catch it up. Not major issues but by the end I had little faith that the staff were able to reliably organise things and I would’ve gone to an agency. All of which was exacerbated by the fact the staff - though universally friendly and eager to please - mostly didn’t speak English, with only the owner’s son (who booked tours/travel) able to speak well.
